Michael Ryan - President
Michael Ryan is an award-winning 30-year journalist and speaker, and author of The Last Freedom, a novel on the real life of legendary Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl. Michael is a frequent speaker on Frankl’s teachings, and has attended multiple World Congress of Logotherapy conventions that feature Frankl’s school of psychiatry known as “logotherapy” – literally, the therapy of meaning.
Michael is a native of Kansas City and a graduate of Washburn University, and spent 19 years at the Topeka Capital-Journal before becoming editorial page editor of The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle in 2002. He has a wife, Susan, daughter, Amanda, and son Kevin.
Steven Kaplan – Vice President
Steven Kaplan received a bachelor of science in Chemical Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology, and has been working in industry and retail for over 30 years. He has been trained and certified as a Radical Forgiveness coach and facilitator, helping individuals and groups truly forgive and find personal peace. He joined Toastmasters in 2003, working to the level of Advanced Communicator and winning speech contests at the local and district level. Steven is trained in the Covey Principle-Centered Leadership course, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, The Lou Tice Investment in Excellence course, and other modalities of interpersonal relationship and group leadership skills.
